Empowering the Menopause Journey: The Menoqueens Story
Prof. Dr. med. Petra Stute, Founder of Menoqueens, is determined to change how society understands and manages menopause. As Head of the Menopause Center at the University Hospital of Bern—Switzerland’s only certified center of its kind—she has witnessed firsthand how underserved both women and healthcare professionals are when it comes to menopause support.
Over 1 billion women will experience menopause by 2025, yet most lack access to structured education, trusted guidance, or even basic acknowledgment of what they are going through.
With this vision, Petra founded Menoqueens, a digital-first Femtech platform designed to empower women and professionals alike with science-backed resources, expert-led training, and a vibrant community.
From Vision to Action
Menoqueens is not just another health app—it is a comprehensive ecosystem. As a registered non-profit, the platform brings together women, clinicians, researchers, and industry stakeholders under one mission: to improve menopause care through education, research, and professional training.
The platform offers five integrated pillars:
- menoEducation: Expert-led webinars for women and clinicians.
- menoScience: A research hub where studies in women’s health can be promoted via a licensing model.
- menoSchool: A certified menopause curriculum offering accredited CME sessions and case study learning.
- menoBlog: A weekly newsletter for both women and professionals, authored by Prof. Dr. Stute.
- menoCast: A podcast sharing evidence-based knowledge and updates on menopause science.
This holistic structure makes Menoqueens the first platform to fully integrate medical education, professional development, clinical research, and community engagement—all in one place.
Navigating the Challenges of Femtech
Breaking into the Femtech space has not been without hurdles. Petra notes three main challenges: social stigma, fragmented solutions, and a lack of targeted training for healthcare professionals.
To address this, Menoqueens partnered with top university institutions and gained the support of leading pharmaceutical companies. The organization developed a unique licensing and membership model, enabling sustainable growth while maintaining a non-profit structure.
Measuring Impact
Since its launch in 2024, Menoqueens has built strategic alliances, launched its educational curriculum, and developed a research licensing model already used to promote clinical studies. The platform is recognized for bridging a significant gap: a 2020 survey by the Swiss Society of Gynecology and Obstetrics revealed the lack of endocrine menopause training among gynecologists. Menoqueens directly addresses this shortfall.
“We have created a platform where both women and professionals feel seen, supported, and equipped,” Petra shares. “That alone is a milestone.”
The Future of Menopause Care
Looking ahead, Menoqueens aims to expand across Europe by 2026, scaling its partnerships, research initiatives, and educational reach. Petra also envisions Menoqueens playing a key role in corporate wellness programs, helping organizations support midlife women in the workplace with better knowledge and resources.
As awareness and demand grow, Petra sees digital communities and hybrid education models becoming central to future menopause care.
Advice to Future Femtech Innovators
“Start where the silence is loudest,” Petra advises. “Menopause is still widely misunderstood, yet it affects half the world’s population. Build with science, build with empathy—and always build with women in mind.”
